Good to know
- A tablespoon of honey (21 g) has about 64 calories, almost all of it from sugar.
- A drizzle from the bottle is easy to underestimate. Measuring it once with a spoon shows how much you usually use.
- Spoon for spoon, honey has more calories than sugar because it is denser: a teaspoon of honey (7 g) has about 21, a teaspoon of sugar (4.2 g) about 16. A tablespoon of maple syrup (20 g) has about 52.
- Per 100 g it is the other way round: honey has 304 calories and granulated sugar 387, because honey contains water.
