A private calorie tracker.
No account needed.
Calorify keeps your food diary on your device instead of in an online account. This page sets out what stays local, what optional AI analysis sends, and the trade-offs that come with it.
No account, no sign-up
Calorify does not ask you to register or sign in. There is no email address to give and no password to remember. You open the app, set your targets if you want them, and log your first meal.
It is free to download, with optional in-app purchases, for iPhone and iPad (iOS 17.6+), Mac with Apple silicon, and Apple Vision Pro.
Where your diary is stored
Your food diary, attached photos, weight history, water entries, and personal targets are stored on your device. From Profile you can export your diary, restore saved data, or delete the local diary.
Because these are local records, they may also be included in the backups your device makes, depending on your own device settings.
What is sent, and when
Keeping the diary on your device does not mean everything happens offline. AI analysis is optional, and it runs online.
| Information | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Food diary entries and attached meal photos | Stored on your device. |
| Weight history, water entries, and personal targets | Stored on your device. |
| A photo and description you submit for an AI estimate | Sent to OpenAI to produce the estimate. Only when you request one. |
| An email you send to support | Received by us, with whatever you choose to include. |
When you ask for an AI estimate, the photo and description you select are sent to OpenAI, which returns the suggested foods, portions, and nutrition values. The app privacy policy notes that OpenAI describes default abuse-monitoring retention of up to 30 days for these requests. The same principle applies to any AI feature you choose to use: the content you select for that request is sent for processing.
If you would rather send nothing, log by hand. Manual entries with food search and adjustable portions work without AI analysis. The AI calorie tracker page explains how photo logging works when you do use it.
What the App Store privacy label says
The App Store privacy label for Calorify reads “Data Not Collected.” Developers report these labels to Apple themselves, so read ours alongside the app privacy policy, which states that the app does not use advertising or behavioral analytics and that we do not sell personal information.
The trade-offs
- No automatic sync. Your diary does not follow you between devices. Each device keeps its own.
- Backups are yours to make. With no account, we cannot restore a diary for you. Export a backup before you change or reset a device.
- AI analysis needs a connection. Photo and description estimates are processed online.
- Apple devices only. There is no Android version and no web version.
How this compares with other calorie trackers
Many calorie trackers keep your diary in an account. Among the apps we compared, Cal AI signs you in with Apple or Google and stores data in the cloud, and Lifesum uses a Lifesum account. That brings conveniences Calorify does not have, such as picking up your data on another device.
The comparison of Calorify, Cal AI, Lifesum, and Formo lists each app’s account requirement and App Store privacy label side by side, with links to the listings.
Questions about privacy
Do I need an email address to use Calorify?
No. Calorify does not ask you to register or sign in. You open the app and start logging.
Is my food diary uploaded to a server?
No. Your food diary, attached photos, weight history, water entries, and personal targets are stored on your device. If you request an AI estimate, the photo and description you select for that request are sent to OpenAI to produce it, as the app privacy policy explains.
Can I use Calorify without AI analysis?
Yes. AI analysis is optional. You can search everyday foods, create meal entries yourself, and adjust portions by hand.
How do I move my diary to a new iPhone?
Export a backup from Profile on your current device, then use the restore option on the new one. Calorify does not sync your diary between devices automatically.
How do I delete my data?
Use the delete option in Profile to remove your local diary. There is no account to close, because Calorify does not create one.
Does Calorify show ads or track me?
The app privacy policy states that the app does not use advertising or behavioral analytics, and the App Store privacy label for Calorify says “Data Not Collected.”
